I started a new site with the intention to have it only be about my company, but as I was searching for area resources, I realized that no one place existed with information about products sewn in Vermont. Wow, is it already March? I can’t believe how time is flying by. Usually January and February are the slow times of year in the scooter seat cover business, but I’ve been steadily busy. So much so that I’ve had to temporarily limit making any covers that involve either fluffy fancy fabric like the one above, or those that involve special order fabric or fabric you want to provide.

Why? Well, for a couple of reasons. I love making you exactly what you want. But when a special order comes in, the entire queue slows down. Fuzzy fabric scooter seat covers take about twice as long to make as ‘regular’ covers, and when you want to send me a fabric you picked out, you usually have very specific requests that can make the process take up to three or four times as long.

The good news is that I’m in the process of trying to hire local help to assist with making scooter seat covers, specifically special orders and popular custom orders. My goal is to make it possible for every customer to get their scooter seat cover within three weeks, rather than the one to two months that it can take sometimes during the busy season.

So, if you’d like a super special fuzzy custom scooter seat cover, please bear with me! Ride safe!

I’m sorry the blog has been so quiet! Scooter seat covers is now officially in Vermont, after a hectic search for a place to rent, hectic packing, a hectic move, and then hectic unpacking. The timing wasn’t that great as far as orders go, since it was right a the end of peak season and the queue for orders was already 4+weeks. I worked right up to last minute, but of course moving always takes more time and energy and cleaning than I think it’s going to!

Here are all the seats, all in a row in the new sewing studio. More pics to come!

It seems like it’s been forever since I’ve written over here… because it nearly has been. July has been the busiest month so far this season, and there’s no rest for the weary. All that sewing time also means that I have less time to post pics of my latest scooter seat covers, get new fabrics up as fast as I’d like, and update my favorite part of the site: adding photos from you in the gallery.

Here’s a preview of one of my most recent products… a red bubble-fur scooter seat cover for a Metropolitan, made for Lainie in PA for her wedding. Come on over to the gallery to see more.

On August 25, 2007, I’ll be riding in the second annual Last Mile Ride to benefit end-of-life care at Gifford Memorial Hospital in my home state of Vermont.

I’ll be riding to honor the memory of Charles “Shod” McCullough, and to raise money for this exceptional non-profit hospital.

On February 15, 2007, Shod passed away from cancer in the Garden Room at Gifford with family members by his side. Designed for terminally ill patients who are unable to die at home, the Garden Room is a special garden-side private suite for dying patients and their families, located in the hospital’s medical-surgical unit. The Gifford mission is to make the dying process as comfortable as possible and to relieve as much suffering as possible for the patient and family.

When I discovered that Gifford was coordinating a motorcycle ride to raise funds for its end-of-life services, I knew I had to do it as a memorial to Shod and to honor a family that I’ve grown to love as my own. My sincere apologies for being so quiet. I was in Vermont for a few days for Shod McCullough’s burial, and staying with my sister on her farm. I was unable to get online due to a line being pulled down by a grain truck, and it wasn’t able to be fixed due to the holiday weekend. I’m back home now and reconnected to the world.

Lately, I’ve received a lot of requests for covers for Kymco People 150 scooter seat covers (like the mock-up I’ve made on the right), so I’ve been on the watch for a seat on ebay or for sale from a dealer. So far, no luck – so if you find a seat – or want to let me borrow yours for about 3 weeks – then there may be a free seat scooter seat cover in it for you!

I’m also looking for a variety of Honda Elite seats – like many of those on this page. Let me know if you find one for sale.
